Evelyn Place

The original ranch house built in 1959 resides at the far south end of the historic Grove Park Inn Country Club. Evelyn Place is defined by its stately homes, mature sycamore trees and expansive views north across the finely groomed golf course and views to Sunset Mountain beyond. The house on Evelyn, while much newer than the surrounding homes dating back to the turn of the century, had a modern soul, kept silent beneath decades of neglect, and a series of unfortunate renovations. Like most homes of this era, the rooms were small and compartmentalized and inadequate to serve the needs of a young family. The initial phase of the renovation included removing the aluminum siding, faux shutters, vinyl double hung windows, veneer brick and uninspired gable roofs and rear wood deck. Over 2500 sf of additional square footage was added, including a 2 car garage, screened porch, bluestone terrace and primary bedroom suite. Interiors were further enhanced by new maple flooring throughout, updated and expanded kitchen, breakfast area, office and entry. Behind the scenes are all new hvac, electrical and plumbing systems. Exterior improvements include clear cedar shiplap siding, large casement windows, standing seam roof and native landscaping.
