Rooted in our origins as a residential practice, our work reflects close attention to daily rituals, proportion, materiality, and comfort. This foundation informs every project, shaping intuitive, human-scaled environments  - from compact mountain cabins, or primary residences designed for year-round living in the Asheville region.

Design starts with the land. Throughout the mountains of Western North Carolina and surrounding regions, each site - steep or flat, wooded or open - offers lessons that shape the architecture. We respond to topography, climate, light, and context to create buildings that feel rooted, harmonious, and in concert with their surroundings.

We believe the most sustainable buildings are those people love and choose to keep - especially in the demanding climate of the Southern Appalachians. Through enduring materials, thoughtful detailing, and close collaboration with builders and craftspeople, we create architecture built to last physically and emotionally.
